Google Search.. A significant portion of the Google Search app has stayed unchanged, despite the fact that Android 12 introduced a significant revamp of Material You a few years ago. In order to make the search experience a little bit more contemporary, Google updated a few tiny bits and pieces, but it never incorporated distinctive components such as wallpaper-based theming or Material Design 3 icons and interface elements. Several phones have received an update to their search filters, which indicates that the business is finally beginning to take tiny measures toward changing this situation.
In a test that was conducted on one of our devices that was running the Google app version 15.13.43.29, search chip filters seemed to have a far more contemporary appearance. The filter that has been picked is no longer highlighted; rather, it is given a backdrop that is a light blue squircle, which makes it seem to be in perfect harmony with other chips or filters that are part of Material Design 3. The fact that the new design is also active on Google Search in Chrome on the same device leads us to conclude that this is a change that is implemented on the server side across the whole Google website rather than a modification that is exclusive to the Google app.
Despite the fact that many users are still seeing the previous design with the underlined filters, which is consistent with the design on desktop, it does not seem that the modification has been implemented across the whole system just yet. If Google’s previous remodeling attempts are any indication, it is possible that it will take a considerable amount of time to roll out to a large number of people. Additionally, the corporation may decide to abruptly abandon the experiment entirely without delivering it to additional mobile devices.
The ‘Your space’ part of Google’s website is also undergoing change.
It would seem that this modification to the application is distinct from the makeover of “Your space” that was discovered by 9to5Google not too long ago. According to the findings of the journal, the cards that are shown at the top of the Discover feed and include information on the weather, air quality, stock prices, and sports scores seem differently to certain people. The parts of the interface have been enlarged and brought closer to conforming to the most current design language used by the organization. They offer the same information as before, but in a new arrangement.
In spite of the fact that the Google app seems to be distinctly antiquated in this day and age, it is evident that Google is still making significant efforts to ensure that its core app remains up to date. In addition, it is probable that the reason why the app is updated so slowly is because it is the main app, which makes it more difficult to justify making significant cosmetic changes.
